Oliver's First Christmas

Our Christmas vacation was so lovely. Chris took a week off from work, so we could go visit our families. We flew to Salt Lake the Saturday before Christmas. Our flight left at 6 am, which made for an early morning. Oliver slept almost the whole flight.

We arrived to snow in Utah, which was perfect for Christmastime. We spent the first half of our trip with Chris' family in North Salt Lake. His parents came up too, so it was fun to spend time with everyone. Some highlights from those couple of days include ice skating in Salt Lake, tubing at Soldier's Hollow, everyone loving on Oliver (of course), and the annual gift exchange and talent show. Oliver really was such a trooper for everything. He loves his Lopez side of the family and they love him.

We headed for Pocatello on Christmas Eve. It was such a treat to be home for Christmas. It was great to also have Carrie and Kevin and their boys in town for Christmas. They were so sweet with Oliver. I wish Oregon and Colorado were closer. We ate Christmas Eve dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Boyce's. It was delicious, as always. We sang carols and read scriptures and it was just wonderful. We're so grateful for the birth and life and mission of our Savior.

Christmas morning was perfect. We tried to sleep in, but Oliver was too excited :) We received many wonderful gifts from mom and dad and Brit and Addie. Among them are a fabulous new speaker so we can listen to music at home and adorable rain boots. I love them! I've already put them to good use on the beach and of course on rainy days. Oliver was adorable as ever in his Christmas jammies. He tried to eat his present instead of opening it. Then, he fell asleep in Grandpa's arms because of all the excitement. The rest of the day was spent enjoying being with family and of course eating more delicious food.

The rest of the week went by too quickly. We had fun eating Chris' mom's tamales, watching Frozen (which Oliver loved by the way), eating more Mexican food, enjoying ice cream at Farr's, a trip to Costco, 5 Guys burgers and fries, and just spending time with our family. I love them and miss being close to them. It was a perfectly splendid holiday. I wish I would have done a better job taking pictures. I don't have any pictures of many members of our families. So, sorry. I need to be better at documenting. Oliver had lots of attention and love. We're so grateful we could be with our families. We got home and Oliver slept for 10 hours that night. He must of been worn out from all the excitement.
